Quite an eclectic collection of vintage iron is scheduled to go across the auction block at Bonhams and Butterfields Paris motorcycle auction on February 5. In addition to the highly publicized Megola bike (above), with a five-cylinder radial engine mounted to the front wheel, a rare 1936 Brough Superior SS80 is expected to bring some of the highest bids. BMW collectors will enjoy bidding on several vintage bikes: a 1928 R42 and a 1928 R62 w/sidecar, the latter bike an unrestored “barn find.” Vincent enthusiasts will appreciate the ’49 Rapide, as well as a 1955 Black Knight Series D and a Series C model 1950 Comet. Rare bike manufacturers such as Calcott, Wanderer, Parilla, Dollar, Motosacoche, Ultima and Werner are also represented in this auction. Twenty-six bikes in all will go up for sale, including several newer Ducati and MV Augusta scoots. Scheduled to be sold just before the bikes, almost 200 lots of automobilia. Oh yeah, and 91 vintage automobiles will be sold immediately after the bikes are gone, too.
