One of the absolute nicest places you can find yourself as fall approaches is in the rich Shenandoah Valley. Its heritage is shared by Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia, where three antique truck groups have joined forces to present the Tri-State Antique Truck Show September 23-25.

The location is the Frederick County, Virginia, Fairgrounds, off Exit 321 of Interstate 81. We can’t let that neat hauler, pulling the trailer with the C-cab thereon, pass without comment. It started out as a circa-1950 Mack pumper, we’re guessing a Type 95, with a full factory crew cab, before it was later reloaded with diesel power and turned into a tractor. Long Beach, California, had a full fleet of these pumpers with similar cabs. Looks like an original Mars light atop the cab roof, too.
