Hot on the heels of our recent interview with the founder of the Toyota Owners and Restorers Club (TORC), which you can find in the December 2010 issue of Hemmings Sports and Exotic Car, comes news that Toyota’s own corporate museum in Southern California has moved, and the grand opening is coming in a couple of weeks! Best of all, you, the Hemmings.com readership, is invited! Susan Sanborn, curator of the Toyota Museum, and Terry Yamaguchi of TORC have asked us to spread the news.
The new digs are open November 2 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and November 3 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. An RSVP (due by October 27) is required; anyone interested in coming by should fill out this RSVP form. The location, and directions to the museum, will be sent to you by an automated e-mail when your RSVP is received. (Ordinarily, the museum is by appointment only. This is a special opportunity to take a walk through Toyota’s history in America.) We hear that the president of Toyota will be there for the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Anyone interested in visiting the museum at other times can email susan_sanborrn@toyota.com for availability and access. For the rest of us who can’t be there, we’ll have to be satisfied checking out www.toyotausamuseum.com
