You would be excused for reasoning that those who follow motorsports, as with so many other pastimes, have short memories. Then something happens like the circumstance that saw David Pearson excluded from the initial group of inductees for NASCAR’s palatial Hall of Fame in Charlotte. That was almost a bigger story than who actually was chosen.

A year later, Pearson is belatedly in the hall and clearly, still a star and fan favorite. We flatly predict that his appearance in January at the Motorsports 2011 Presented by SEF trade show in Oaks, Pennsylvania, will be spectacularly successful. Pearson still ranks second only to Richard Petty among NASCAR winners. In a remarkable but sometimes-missed statistic, Pearson won what was the Grand National title three times (1966, 1968, 1969) despite never running the full schedule of races. Pearson will meet with fans Saturday, January 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Show information is at www.aarn.com.
