We know it’s been a couple of weeks since we returned from the Charlotte AutoFair (at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina), but magazine deadlines and photo shoots have kept this series of snapshots sitting in my files instead of cyberspace.
To lead things off, the above photo was snapped when we left the swap meet on Sunday afternoon as the event was wrapping up. We’ve seen a lot of different methods in which vendors attend and peddle their goods from, but I can’t recall seeing an air conditioning unit poking out from the rear door of what would normally be considered a standard issue Ford Econoline 150.
This spring, there were actually two auctions car lovers could attend: Tom Mack – which had relocated to a venue just miles away from the track – and Dealer Auctions, Inc., the organizers of which held their event under the grandstands. It was at the Dealer Auctions event where I snapped this shot of editors McCourt and LaChance scrutinizing a 1970 Plymouth Superbird (note: auction coverage from both events will be appearing in our Hemmings titles very shortly).
Finally, if your amped up 1957 Chevy pickup is missing an air cleaner cover, and all you have laying around is a vintage Chevy wheel cover, we have a solution for you.
