In latter decades, GM has been oft criticized for being staffed largely with pencil pushers and bean counters, not with real car people, but judging from the GM staffers who showed up to the inaugural vintage car show at the GM Tech Center in June 1985 – as related by Michael Lamm for SIA #91, February 1986 – plenty of high-ranking decision makers at GM were certainly hands-on gearheads who appreciated a wide variety of old cars.
