The more you look at these photos of the Hess and Eisenhardt-built 1956 Cadillac Custom View Master station wagon, the more you wonder exactly how much of it was scratchbuilt by the Ohio-based coachbuilding company. The faux wood trim certainly looks like Mercury’s, as stated in the article that Josiah Work wrote for SIA #92, April 1986, but it’s not exact. Same with the roof and rear glass – they kinda look like they came from the Chevrolet Nomad/Pontiac Safari, or maybe a H&E professional vehicle, but maybe not. Goes to show how much effort H&E put into these wagons.
