Mystery Special, Palm Springs, March 1955

Written by webmin

Erich Schultz is looking for a bit of help identifying a mystery racer spotted in a video of the March 1955 Palm Springs races that The Chicane posted last year. (Worth checking out – ever seen an Alfa Romeo B.A.T. in action?) The car, 192c, first appears at about the 4:36 mark, taking a corner wide and kicking up some sand before straightening out and blowing past. Erich believes it to be an Allard J2 – or at least a homebuilt facsimile, after pointing out quite a few details that are inconsistent with Allard J2s. Of course, even though the program for the races is readily available, there’s no record of who raced with the number 192c. Does anybody recognize it?
