Rob Holcombe of Berkeley, California, recently took a wandering road trip through Nevada and sighted this Packard, the next entry in this week’s Motorhome Mania. He writes:

I was wandering through a mostly abandoned Nevada gold rush town when something caught my eye.  I’m notorious for my scanning abilities!  I turned my MBZ 300TD around and went back to find this.  I took more photos but this is the only one that came out.  I was sick when I saw the rest of the photos didn’t come out.  But really?  I did tons of web research and could find NOTHING about this car except that in theory some guy in Ohio (?) converted 8 Packard hearses into RVs.  The car is completely whole and solid.  The interior (including the wood) is in AMAZING condition.  It must have been stored in doors most of its life.  What have I found???  I dream about owning it and touring in it.  Seriously it looked like if I had the key and some quick start I could drive it away!

The folks on the Motorhome Magazine forums couldn’t put an ID to it either, other than suggesting it was simply a homemade affair.
