Mecum’s St. Charles Auction kicks off Thursday and one of the headliners we’ll be watching is this 1969 Dodge Hemi Charger R/T four speed with a reported 13,645 miles on the odometer.
The car was last spotted for sale at Colin’s Classic Automobiles where the proprietor, and author of the book Million-Dollar Muscle Cars, described it as good enough for him to have owned three times in the last 12 years.
The R/T has been featured in a magazine as well as a book and its qualifications for a six-figure sales price are strong: red with a black vinyl top and black interior, factory light group, Track Pak with Dana 60 Sure Grip 3.54:1 rear axle, D21 four-speed, tachometer with clock, Music Master radio, hood-mounted turn signals, three-speed windshield wipers, remote outside mirrors and factory stripe delete.
At Barrett-Jackson’s 2010 Orange County sale, a 1969 Hemi Charger R/T with 56,000 miles on the clock and listed as having a correct date coded block sold for $117,700. At B-J Palm Beach a 1969 Hemi Charger 500 said to be numbers matching with an automatic transmission and a reported 1,295 original miles sold for $148,500.
This one should go north of $140,000… any educated guesses?
