A few months ago, buried in a post with other lost dealerships, we presented a license plate and business card for Don-A-Vee Rambler in Bellflower, California, and took a stab at guessing the location of the dealership based on the address on the business card. Looks like we were off by a little bit – Jeremy Krock, of Peoria, Illinois, sent us this photo of Don-A-Vee that clearly shows it on the corner of Bellflower and Alondra.
Jeremy’s great-uncle was Don Williamson, whose business card contained the 15737 S. Bellflower address we looked up earlier. Jeremy writes:
Here is a vacation picture Dad took when we drove to California from Canton, IL in the summer of 1971. Looks like a lot of Gremlins to sell.
And a CJ-5. And a Commando. And a new Hornet… So now we’re only left wondering whether Don-A-Vee was where the gas station now stands or on the opposite corner. I’m leaning toward the latter, given the block numbering information I see on Google Maps.
