In for the long haul: Automotive companies the same then as now

Written by webmin

For Hemmings Motor News I’m writing up a little piece on the Veeder Hub-Odometer, those devices you see on heavy truck wheel hubs that measure mileage. It turned out that Veeder originally started making them for bicycles in 1895, introduced a car line in 1901 and still makes them today, 110 years later. That surely places them in very exclusive company – how many businesses could possibly have done the same?

I came up with a few immediately – Champion spark plugs, Michelin tires – but thought it would be fun to see what you smart people can think of. So your challenge: Identify as many automotive products as you can which did the same function, under the same brand name, for the duration of the 20th Century. Maybe it’s not as small a list as I think.
