Yes, I’ve been a big slacker on Project HMX. I finished cleaning, painting and reassembling the rear axle, 10-inch drum brakes and AMX rear suspension, then rolled the whole unit to the side last October and got sidetracked with projects that didn’t involve freezing my cheeks off in an uninsulated garage (yeah, quityerbitchin, I know). It’s the longest I’ve ever let myself get sidetracked on this project, even longer than when I didn’t have a garage for it, and I found myself apologizing to the AMX when I recently got back out to the garage and started clearing the accumulated junk from its hood.
One last thing I never got around to doing before I rolled the rear axle off to the side was installing the rear braided stainless brake hose I ordered for it. When I rebuilt the front suspension and brakes, I replaced the rubber brake hoses with braided stainless hoses, but left the rubber rear hose. Theoretically, at least, you won’t realize the full potential of braided stainless hoses unless the whole system has been switched over, but I imagine the difference on a street-driven car will be slight. Still, anything that’ll reduce maintenance seems worth it to me.
