Despite the Dodge branding, despite the Shelby connection, Mopar’s front-drive performance vehicles of the 1980s always seemed more European than American. Take this 1986 Shelby GLHS for sale on Hemmings.com: Even if we dismiss the body styling that looks very much like Chrysler’s French cars and Volkswagen’s Rabbit, there’s still the combination of four doors, front-wheel drive, turbocharged four-cylinder, lowered stance, flush-face wheels and modest body kit that evokes ‘Bahners and ‘Ringers better than any Celebrity-based Eurosport can. From the seller’s description:

#298, signed and numbered. 109K. Engine and turbo are tight; tires are very good; interior is nearly perfect. Chrysler gremlins abound otherwise. As the original owner, I can answer any questions, and I have all the original paperwork. More pictures and details available. There were 500 of this model made by Shelby in Whittier, California, and about 1/3 have passed on. They aren’t exotic, but definitely oddities and getting rarer.
