It’s hard to look at these photos and accept the fact that this 1973 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser for sale on Hemmings.com is all original. After all, how could large station wagons like this – sold to families with kids and dogs and charcoal grills – escape from nearly 40 years of wear and tear, use and abuse? Then again, any car would stand the test of time with the same care that was shown this one. From the seller’s description:

This car is all original and has never restored. The car was bought new by my dad and has never been on winter roads and has never had road salt touch it. Our family only used the car for summer trips or to the beach on weekends. It was always stored in a dry garage out of the sun. It has the original exhaust and paint has never been redone. I did not have it detailed, so that people could see its original condition. It has the 455 V-8 with A four-barrel carburetor. It likes gas.

I have the original receipt, and it also comes with a car cover. It has a unique back tailgate that is called the clamshell tailgate, and it all works very well. It was also Ziebarted (rust-proofed). It would drive to California today if you wanted it to.
