Though Studebaker in the early 1960s had a reputation generally for working with outdated models, the Brooks Stevens redesign of the Hawk brought South Bend’s grand touring up to the moment with other sport luxury vehicles such as the contemporary Thunderbird and Riviera. As we see on this 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk for sale on Hemmings.com, the seller picked up on the “sport” side of things with the five-spoke wheels; we’d like to see the engine to see if he made it any sportier underhood. From the seller’s description:

Restored 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo Hawk. Red exterior with white vinyl interior, red piping and red carpet. Owned car for over 15 years. It runs great and gets lots of attention driving down the road. Won several awards at local car shows with this car.

California car from its beginning until a recent move to Texas. The paint is Deltron in Ford “Jalapeno Red.” The interior has been fully restored. Original engine fully rebuilt and transmission rebuilt. The wheels are original American Torque Thrust wheels and the original hubcaps are included. This is a rust-free car.
