Four-Links – Piranha found, Windy’s shop saved, Heartland Nats, Apollo GT

Written by webmin

* Fans of “Man From U.N.C.L.E.” will no doubt recall the Piranha, a car that Gene Winfield built for the show. It appears that the exact car from filming has now turned up and is headed for a restoration.

UPDATE (13.June 2011): Geoff Hacker’s Forgotten Fiberglass has more on the Piranha.

* Speaking of Gene Winfield, our pals at Kustomrama this week alerted us to a story about Winfield’s first shop in Modesto, California, an old chicken coop, which earlier this year was saved from destruction and will continue to be preserved.

* Craig Hover over at Hover Motor Company recently took a trip to the Heartland Model Car Nationals, where he found some exceptional model cars competing in a variety of categories. Gotta love the creativity.

* It may look like a Ferrari or some other Italian sports car, but Mike at My Car Quest tells us it’s an all-American Apollo GT, and he goes on to tell us why it ultimately failed against its competition.

* There’s some speculation the above shot of a three-wheeled Royal Enfield from India may be photoshopped. If it isn’t, we’d sure like to see how it all works. (via)
