* Over at Off-Road Action, Wes posted a set of Doug Sutton’s photos from the 1971 Mint 400 desert race, which featured a variety of machinery, from Broncos and dune buggies to bikes and four-wheel-drive Barracudas.
*Continuing with the race theme, BigLorryBlog (huh? racing?) posted some photos and a video this week about the original Ford Transit Supervan. The video’s worth watching, if only for the tremendous disconnect you encounter when seeing the van, but hearing a Gurney Westlake V-8.
* Geoff Hacker, he of Forgotten Fiberglass fame, recently started another blog on bellytankers and other streamliners, which includes this great post featuring scans from the program of the Muroc Racing Association’s event in September 1933, courtesy of Frank Lurry’s collection.
* To round out our racing links this week,we turned to The Garage Blog, where Gary Grant recently shared the above video of the SCCA Trans-Am event at Brainerd in 1969. Excellent footage of both the racing and of the crowds.
* Finally, though it has nothing to do with racing, we thought it worth mentioning that Kit Foster’s CarPort blog is back up and running, and it looks like he’s managed to retrieve all of his old posts as well as begin writing anew, starting with this week’s writeup of the Cartercar.
