Even the most hardened, “car-as-appliance” person can’t resist the siren call of an exotic Ferrari. And those who attend the Shriners Hospitals For Children Capitol Concours d’Elegance this Sunday on the Capitol Mall in Sacramento, California, will be able to enjoy a ride that benefits sick children. Generous members of the Ferrari Club of America-Pacific Region, Sacramento Chapter, have organized the Ferrari Ride to Remember event, in which Ferrari owners will drive passengers on laps around the Capitol Mall, and take their photographs with the cars; the tax-deductible money that they raise – the club is asking for a minimum of $100 per lap – will go to the Shriners Hospital, to help children with serious medical needs.

The Ferraris that participants can ride in are the 12-cylinder Testarossa and 550 Maranello and eight-cylinder 360 F1 and F430; the highest bidder will enjoy a ride in a stunning open-top, V-12-powered 1966 275 GTS, as well as receive a souvenir photo and a bottle of Italian wine.

The number of Ferrari rides available is limited, and advance reservations are being accepted through the concours’s website.
