Animal Crate for Use While Traveling
This early twentieth century animal crate was designed for people who traveled with their pets by railroad. The pets were usually confined to the baggage car. This is a traveling home for a small pet complete with a sliding drawer to hold food and allow for porters to feed Fido for you. It is in near excellent condition. Wood and rivets with the initials of owner. Of special interest is the door for feeding the pet, labeled “biscuits”, and a small metal receptacle with a metal pipe that runs down the wall of crate to a fixed metal bowl. Water could be poured in the little receptacle which would replenish the bowl in the crate. He wall is “breathable” with vented side panels. A beautiful antique and great collection to our DFW Elite Toy Museum.
