The top sale at Mecum’s Des Moines, Iowa, auction last weekend was this 1969 Camaro Z-11 Pace Car replica that changed hands for $66,000.
The Camaro is outfitted with the 300hp 350, a four-speed and air conditioning. According to the auction description it had been completely restored and was in “like-new” condition. Unfortunately we weren’t able to inspect the car but, if that’s the case, the buyer got a nice deal.
And speaking of nice deals: the next highest sale at the De Moines event was a 2010 Mustang Hurst Pace car that hammered for $60,000. The Hurst package alone carries an MSRP of $36,450 and that doesn’t include the $32,000-plus cost of a Mustang GT convertible or GT premium (even more money) convertible. You almost have to believe these will be collectible down the road, too with so few built.
Frankly we’re a little jealous. Check out the top 10 results for yourself over at Mecum.com.
