1984 ford

On the surface, there’s probably not much one can say about a 1984 Ford LTD station wagon that just barely qualifies as an antique car. Downsized and essentially forgotten about since these became used cars (sorry, certified pre-owned Fords), this one was spotted in Hershey’s car corral back in 2008 near the tunnel that connects the Green Field/Car Corral with the Chocolate North Field. According to the seller:

Built in September 1983; all original, power brakes, air conditioning, 77,000 miles, lady owned, all books from new, never smoked in – $4,800 or cash best offer.

What may not be noticeable on the fender is the electronic fuel injection badge, which signified that this $9,000 (when new) wagon came equipped with the 232-cu.in. (3.8-liter) V-6 that made 120hp – it was standard on all LTD wagons this year. The engine – according to “the books” – does not add value: Condition #1 examples were listed at $3,000 back in 2008, but as others have pointed out, finding one complete and in this condition for three large might be more trouble than just paying the asking price seen at Hershey. Perhaps $4,500 or a little less was welcomed by the seller.

As an added bonus, here’s how Ford pushed their LTD fleet in 1984, and their LTD wagon in 1983 (sorry, I did not have a 1984 wagon ad).
