We still have a couple of Greg Steinmayer’s found photos to go through (previous ones include the Ford GPA splashing down in the Detroit River, the people and monster of Ford’s factories, and the Maico 500 Sport), including this one that doesn’t immediately appear to have much to do with the others, which were all connected in some way with Ford or the area around Detroit. Our own Jim Donnelly quickly identified the three on the left as Team Lotus’s Jim Clark, Colin Chapman, and Dan Gurney, with two unidentified Lotus mechanics on the right. He also believes the date is around 1963 or 1964. As for the Ford connection, it comes in the 260-cu.in. Ford small-block V-8 sucking air through those Webers to power the Lotus.
What exactly the group is doing and at what track remains unknown for now. Anybody have any educated guesses? If not, maybe we’ll see if we can run it by Gurney.
