Truth be told, even parts for one of the most popular automakers are still in the process of being reproduced. Not all of them are the flashy bits of exterior chrome or inviting seat upholstery. Some can be rather mundane and easily overlooked by the basic aficionado of all things vintage and on wheels. But to the car owner, they are just as important as the new outside mirror.

Recently, Shafer’s Classic Reproductions – based in Tampa, Florida – released reproduction fuel filters for owners of 1963-65 409-cu.in. powered Chevrolets. Licensed by GM, these assemblies (part #GF201) fit single or dual four-barrel 409 intake arrangements and retail for $65. Other GM car owners should take note: These same filters also fit the same vintage Buicks, Cadillacs and Pontiacs. Although unseen by many, Shafer’s also released left and right reproduction door latches for 1956-57 Chevys. Listed as part #DLL001 and DLR001, they retail for $99.99 each, eliminating the issue of resurrecting crusty used units.
