More than 1,500 BMW motorcycle owners attended the recent BMW Riding Association annual rally, this year sponsored by Max BMW of New York and New Hampshire and held in Pownal, Vermont. Many of the rally attendees got an early start on their trip to our neck of the woods by attending other BMW get togethers on their way here. The kick off was the BMW Motorcycle Owners Association 4R Rally in Redmond, Oregon, July 15-18, then the 38th annual Top of the Rockies Rally in Paonia, Colorado, July 22-25 before heading to southwestern Vermont to attend the BMWRA rally the following weekend. Riders who could not attend one of those other events were encouraged to stop either at the BMW MOA Headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, or the Aerostitch factory in Duluth, Minnesota, and pick up arm bands as proof they had been there. We do not know if anyone arrived with all possible arm bands or not but it would not surprise us in the least if there were a few. Although no location for next year’s rally has been set, speculation is Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, as a leading candidate with some mention of possibly Wisconsin or Northern Georgia.
