How time flies. It was only five-and-a-half short years ago that I started writing the weekly Legislation and Law and Order pieces, first for former e-Weekly and now for the blog. In that time, I’ve written more than 250 columns on the subject; read through at least thousands, if not tens of thousands of pages of statutes, rules and other documents; interviewed politicians; and generally spent a lot of time crafting my bizarre and half-informed opinions on law that affects cars and their owners.
However interesting those may have been (hint: not at all interesting), few were directly, or even tangentially, related to old cars, and it is explicitly our mission not to touch on new car issues unless they relate somehow to collector cars. With that, and our increased workload for the print titles, in mind, Legislation is being semi-retired in favor of an entirely more appropriate Auction Pulse feature. I’ve been doing the auction news for Sports & Exotic and Classic Car for the same five-and-a-half years and in that time have developed an extensive file, often filled with items that don’t fit or are too late for the print titles.
As I mentioned, Legislation is semi-retired, and will come out occasionally when there’s something relevant to the hobby. Feel free to email me with tips, either for that or on auction items.
