I recognize I might be in a small minority who have the Hardcastle and McCormick theme song stuck in their head from time to time, so it’s possible my enthusiasm for McCormick’s Coyote X isn’t universal. If so, good, because that will mean that much less competition when Volo auctions it, along with 19 other movie cars, in June.
About half of them come from one of the Fast and the Furious franchise films, which isn’t a surprise, considering how many cars have been involved, and others are oddballs like a Deathrace 2000-style Gatormobile or (tribute) Corvette Summer ’73 Vette.
As those two indicate, at least a few are recreations, so establishing provenance will be up to you, if it’s important. Volo calls the Coyote “the only one,” and while it’s not on the same knock-offs it used on the show, it has the scoops on the rear haunches that distinguished De Lorean-based Coyote II. So while there have been other VW-based Coyote Is, I’ve never heard of a Coyote II reproduction on actual De Lorean running gear. The no-reserve auction will run online June 8-15.
