Fresh off the opening of one Japanese-car museum in the LA area, a second hosts a benefit at the Petersen Museum on November 20. “An Evening of Laughs and Legends,” hosted by Rob Schneider,  promises live music, laughs, and legends as the gathered crowd celebrates Mr. K’s 101st birthday. Who’s Mr. K? Among other things, he’s responsible for the original Datsun Z and bringing it to America.

Despite two decades of hilarity on the big and small screens, Saturday Night Live alum Schneider has just released his first comedy album, Registered Offender, and just completed principal photography on The Chosen One, a dramedy he co-wrote, directed and stars in; he plays a Nissan salesman whose life is about to change.

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres are served at 6 p.m., with dinner and entertainment in the Penthouse. Beyond the food and drink available for the price of a ticket, beyond the opportunity to meet people who had a hand in the founding of one of the premier Japanese marques on American shores, there will also be an auction featuring TV and film memorabilia, sports memorabilia, trips, humidors, designer handbags and (drumroll please…) a selection of vintage Datsun memorabilia.
