A hot deal in Texas

Written by webmin

These rigs don’t show up very often at auctions in any way, so it was very surprising to see this 1983 American La France pumper show up as a lot at the Leake Car Auction in Dallas earlier this month. In fact, we thought at first that it was there to protect the auction site, the big Market Hall center downtown.

This is pretty typical for an ALF pumper of the era; Detroit Diesel power and an Allison automatic. Its most recent assignment was parade duty before Leake hammered it at $12,000, less the 10 percent buyer’s premium. Those two-hole disc wheels are very popular on Texas fire trucks. And if you’ve never heard of the guy on the bumper sticker, you’re just not a real Texan.
