Port Clinton Gama Goat

Quite coincidentally, while we were putting together the recent Four-Links post featuring the AGL-1, a Gama Goat predecessor, reader Steve Donohue from Port Clinton, Ohio, had come across a Gama Goat in the flesh at one of the local marinas and sent us some pictures. From the information he attached, we see that this particular Gama Goat was built in 1971, decommissioned in 1987, then used by a military company in South Dakota for a while until the Ohio owner bought it last year. Steve said he may get a chance for a ride in it in the near future.

  1. I worked for LTV in Detroit in the late 60’s and 70’s when we developed the Gama Goat. I was an illustrator in advanced mfg. and later in special projects with a lot of GG drawing and proposing. All types of vocationalizing was proposed for the rear unit. The Goat was designed using waterlines and station lines. Sealing bulkheads was a real problem as was the articulating drive joint.. Fun days.
