The 1986 Chrysler LeBaron Town and Country convertible comes from a time when the combination of a few bowling lanes’ worth of genuine simulated wood and computerized turbocharging made perfect sense. This luxurious machine with Mark Cross interior leather appointments started life on a mundane K-Car platform, but was transformed to post-assembly line perfection by Creative Industries in Detroit, the same company who finished the Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbird wing cars.
The Town and Country turbo Chrysler was all original, right down to the genuine Chrysler AM/FM cassette stereo with five band graphic equalizer and joystick-style quad speaker fader control. A fresh turbocharger was installed on the mighty 2.2-liter engine for modern efficiency at maximum boost. This automobile of many television and movie appearances was in astounding shape, considering its age, yet it did not fetch a closing bid at the first Auctions America by RM at Spring Carlisle, despite a high bid of $4,100.
The LeBaron Town and Country has been in too many movies and television shows to list here. For more information for its star appearances, head on over to the Internet Movie Cars Database.
