1940 Cadillac
Usually when cars from an estate sale by an auction company that doesn’t specialize in collector cars come in, I’m not blown away. Typically, there’s a Model A, maybe a Mustang and a bunch of parts. But Apple Tree’s sale of the David and June Harcum collection, while relatively small, has some seriously interesting cars. According to David Schnaidt over at Apple Tree in Ohio:
Mr. Harcum is a retired executive who has actively collected fine automobiles for 25 years. They are moving to a retirement facility and no longer have a place for these cars. These cars have been either well restored or are in beautiful, original condition. They have been kept in a heated facility on display near his home.
That doesn’t do it justice, because not only do the cars appear to be in very good condition, but Mr. Harcum – mostly – had style and class. Out of 15 cars, eight are pre-war and most of those Full Classics, Packards and Cadillacs and an Auburn. A 1924 (American English) Austin just misses Full Classic status, but is a mind-blowing car.
Yes, there’s a (late) Model T, but I figure a guy had to start somewhere. Even most of the post-war stuff was cool: There’s a great-looking XK120; Lincoln Mk III; Corvair; Mercedes SL; and what appears to be a ’78 Fleetwood Eldorado Custom Biarritz Classic.

Apple Tree will sell the collection on May 14 at their HQ in Newark, Ohio, and are inviting additional consignments to round out the sale.
