When we announced the return of the Great Race for 2011 late last year, many of you wanted to know whether it would wind its way through your town, so we wanted to update everybody with the finalized route for the 2011 Great Race, presented by Coker Tire and sponsored by Hemmings Motor News.
The race will start June 11 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, from right out in front of Coker Tire, and ultimately end up June 17 here on Main Street in Bennington, Vermont. In between, the race will wind through eastern Tennessee, northeast along the Great Smoky Mountains and the Blue Ride Parkway, into the Shenandoah Valley, up into Pennsylvania and New York, then across the Hudson Valley to the Green Mountains. We’ll be stopping along the way at Athens, Tennessee; Maggie Valley, North Carolina (home of the Wheels Through Time Museum); Galax, Virginia (home of the Old Cranks Motorcar Museum); Salem, Virginia; Harrisonburg, Virginia; Cumberland, Maryland; Chambersburg, Virginia Pennsylvania; Hershey, Pennsylvania (home, of course, of the Antique Automobile Club of America’s museum); Hazleton, Pennsylvania; Binghamton, New York; Cooperstown, New York; Saratoga Springs, New York (home of the Saratoga Automobile Museum); and Stratton Mountain, Vermont (where we hold the New England Concours d’Elegance).
If we are coming to your town, come on out and cheer on the participants and check out their cars. Or, if you want to participate, there’s still time to register. For more information, visit GreatRace.com.
