Russo and Steele is reporting that its Scottsdale auction, January 19-23, tallied up over $21 million in sales, with a sell-through rate of 70 percent.
One of the top stories from the event was the sale of a 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda – profiled here and the subject of much conjecture from readers back in November – that pulled in a whopping $1,705,000.
The car is one of 14 1970 Hemi ‘Cuda convertibles built and one of only nine with a factory automatic transmission. It’s restored, but has reportedly only been driven 19,000 miles from new, with power steering, power front disc brakes, power windows, and the Rallye gauge package.
In other business, Russo and Steele sold a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL for $704,000; a 1965 Shelby Cobra for $335,500; a 1970 Plymouth ‘Cuda 440 for $236,500, and a 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz for $194,700.
Russo and Steele says to stay tuned to www.russoandsteele.com for complete results from its Scottsdale show, which weren’t posted as of this writing.
