Most road trips are taken for no other reason or goal than to see this vast country of ours, but Joanne and Brando Pistorius’s recent summer road trip in their 1930 Packard had quite a bit more of a cause: to raise awareness for rotary clubs and for the Kids Wish Network. Starting out in Tampa in June, the couple made their way to the Rotary International Convention in Montreal and back over a period of about six weeks, stopping at rotary clubs every day along the way and making a wide swing to Louisville, Kentucky, for the AACA’s 75th anniversary celebration.
“This is the most photographed car we have ever owned, we met hundreds of people along the way, and logged a lot of interesting stories,” Joanne wrote. “Because it is an original car, there was no air conditioning, but considering that was the biggest challenge to overcome, we felt we did very well.”
