Not only have we never used the great Pierce-Arrow as the subject of any Hemmings Six Degrees of Automotive Separation Challenge to date, the marque has barely figured into the responses to the challenges. Best I can tell, it was used just a handful of times in 50-plus challenges, yet it occupies a well-known part of American history and it has at least a couple solid ties to the rest of the automotive world.
So for our newcomers, this is how the fox-and-hound-type challenge is played: Whoever responds first to this challenge gets to suggest another automotive company to connect to Pierce-Arrow in six degrees or less. Whoever successfully answers that suggestion gets to suggest another automotive company to connect to Pierce-Arrow, and so on and so forth.
As always, a connection consists of one company owning another, merging with another or sharing another’s parts.
