With 500 pre-entries and more racers expected to show up on the salt, officials from the SCTA-BNI may see a record number of entrants for this year’s 62nd annual Speedweek at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
All reports from Wendover so far have noted that the salt is excellent this year and will allow for three courses – one seven-mile long course and two five-mile short courses. Adding the second short course should help alleviate the long lines of racers waiting to make passes that have been the chief complaint of Bonneville racers in recent history.
Set-up, registration and tech inspection will begin Thursday, August 12; racing will begin Saturday, August 14, and run through the following Friday, August 20.
