A few weeks back we mentioned in this space the $925,000 sale of a custom 1963 Corvette roadster belonging to GM design legend Harley Earl. At that same auction — Mecum’s Original Spring Classic — another, uh, customized Chevrolet, belonging to a different famous guy named Earl, crossed the block, bringing in $6,100.
That Chevrolet was a 1973 El Camino that starred on the TV series My Name is Earl as the exclusive ride of the title character, Earl Hickey. The Camino is actually an original 454/automatic, and it has air conditioning, making it interesting to Bowtie enthusiasts even without the TV tie in.
Mecum’s next sale is in Des Moines, Iowa, June 16-17.
