Over the last decade or so, we’ve seen quite a few homebuilt hot rods using quarter-elliptic springs. For a very light and simple vehicle, even semi-elliptics represent too much weight and complexity, and quarter-elliptics offer much lower axle location. Of course, nothing’s new under the sun, as we see from these photos sent in by Elias Nyberg of Stow, Massachusetts, who writes:
Recently I was at a very old fashioned tractor “junkyard” and beneath a pile of used implements was what appeared to be a very early car, perhaps from the teens or earlier. With a handshake and a few dollars the “heap” of parts became mine. I have no idea what the car could possibly be but it appears to be a unique chassis and parts of a motor that I assume are the same vehicle. Can anyone out there identify the car and possible year(s).
We’ve included a photo of a logo stamped into the rails. A couple other photos Elias sent show numbers in the rails: 333843 and H4P11 327778.
