Mercury, A Tribute

This past weekend, I received an email titled, “Sad Day,” from the hugely talented Mike DiFazio, our former Hemmings Classic Car Auto Art profilee. Mike included an image of his newest piece, a rather touching tribute to Mercury, which was precipitated by the news of Ford’s decision to fold its middle-tier brand after 71 years.

We asked Mike about his history with Mercury cars:

I drove my Dad’s 1955 Mercury Monterey Hardtop during my Senior year in high school, and much to his dismay,  I made a mild custom out of it.  It turned out okay though, he thought it was pretty cool.  My wife and I went out on our first date in that car, went to a Detroit Red Wings hockey game (how romantic, eh?).   And of course, nothing says ”Happy Days” and Fifties like the “James Dean” Mercs.
