For the longest time, I’ve wanted to build a cab-over-engine truck into a nice street truck, placed on a 1/2-ton chassis with a nice older stepside bed. Nothing fancy, like many of the street rod haulers you see nowadays, just something simple, light-duty and quirky. Nor am I the only one with that vision; I’ve seen about a dozen such builds over the last several years, including this 1946 GMC, which is now for sale on Hemmings.com. From the seller’s description:
mounted on a ‘97 HD 1500 chassis, with a built 355 small block V8,R700 Overdrive automatic transmission, positraction rear,P.S.,P.B.,Mallory distributor,Edelbrock carb, rear air shocks, and more. The rear bed is a modified, early, round front Fruehauf trailer, and the truck has a towing package that has proven its’ strength and durability, with two trips to the Carolinas.
