I thought that Packard camper conversion that we ran a couple weeks ago reminded me of something, and during a recent trip through my backlog of emails, I realized what it was. Randy Goodrich sent us these photos in the summer of 2008 when this Cadillac camper was for sale near him up in southern Minnesota. Randy wrote:
I found this beauty for sale near my house. Here is what we have. 1948 Cadillac Meteor Camper showing 72,000 original miles. This was converted to the camper you see by Mangnuson’s GMC Sales, So. Minn. Body and Millwork in Austin, Mn. Phone number of HE 3-6134 should help indicate when it was done. Both front fenders carry the Meteor emblem, and also, Meteor is located on both door sill plates and on the vin plate behind the seat. Engine is a flathead V/8 with 3sp transmission. It runs like a top. The camper sleeps 4, with a table and porta-pottie. Originally had a waste burner, hence the smoke stack. Does have electricity plug- ins plus two original gas burning lamps on the walls inside.
