Vermont Country Store, 1955

Last couple of photos from the collection of Reuben Greene, and everybody give a hand to Rob Woolmington and the Fund for North Bennington for sharing Mr. Greene’s photos with us. As Rob wrote, “I agree with your comment that in some of his photos the cars are just secondary but I do think he was drawn to the shape and color of automobiles. They appear in so many of his slides. Here are two more images, both taken at the Vermont Country Store in Weston. The cars are the focus of both of these shots.”

In the photo above, the 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air is a gimme. And behind it, what do we see but a Rolls-Royce, perhaps the only one ever to grace Weston, Vermont. Who wants to take a stab at supplying a year and model to go with that Rolls? In the photo below, we see what appears to be a 1955 Ford Country Squire on a different day, possibly earlier in ’55. It should go without saying that the Vermont Country Store remains in business today in the same location.
