For a while there, it looked like Bill Harrah’s impressive collection of automobiles would be no more. Unbelievably, he made no provisions for the continuation of the collection after his death in 1978, and the new owners entertained the idea of breaking the entire collection apart, scattering it to the four winds. Of course, we know now that Nevada Governor Robert List stepped in and helped form what is now the National Automobile Museum in Reno in 1989. For SIA #88, August 1985, Arch Brown sat down with List and discussed the process of transforming Harrah’s collection into the museum we’re familiar with today.
