Bridgehampton remains a legendary chapter in the history of East Coast racing, as well it should: With attendance from Briggs Cunningham, Miles Collier, Tom McCahill and many other big names of autodom, the racing was hot, and with very little crowd control along the open streets of Long Island, the racing was fairly immediate as well. Combine that with a classic car parade and equally fascinating spectators’ cars, we can see why Jim Fitchett went back year after year for the race’s short run. Fitchett relived those memories for SIA in the magazine’s June 1982 issue.
