Where in part 1 of his story, Roy Ames outlined the various small-potatoes, back-of-the-magazine ways in which hucksters tried to sell fuel-saving devices, in part 2, from SIA #65, October 1981, Ames goes after the more well-known fuel-saving schemes, including Louis Enricht, the Fish carburetor and the Pogue carburetor. Under Ames’s analysis, only the latter was a legitimate attempt at creating a high-mileage carburetor.
