a 1946 James from the ‘07 Rhinebeck Meet

Hemmings Sports and Exotics editor Craig Fitzgerald and myself will be at the 2010 Rhinebeck Grand National Super Meet at the fairgrounds in Rhinebeck this Friday.  The meet spans next Friday through Sunday and is one of the largest on the East Coast this year, with antique motorcycle vendors, restoration judging and even the California Hell Riders Wall of Death. MidAmerica Auctions will also be having a classic bike auction on Saturday with as many as 125 bikes up for bid. Personally, I’ll be checking out the swap meet items for Triumph parts. The event is sponsored by the six regional chapters of the AMCA’s Northest Chapter Coalition and well over 500 original and restored bikes are expected. A display of 110 years of motorcyles history will be at the event on Saturday and Sunday with their Motorcycle Time Line, which has been a staple of the event since 2007. The Time Line is laced with models and makes from dozens of manufacturers; many you may not have heard of before or you may not have seen an actual running example close up.

Tractors will also be featured in Rhinebeck.

In addition to vintage bikes, Rhinebeck will feature restored tractors, farm equipment, generators at the Antique Machinery and Tractor Show being hosted by the Century Museum and Collectors Association.

Both pickups and larger antique trucks will be on display as part of an antique truck show sponsored by the Mid-Hudson Chapter of the ATCA.

The Rhinebeck Aerodrome is just up the road from the fairgrounds and will be open Saturday and Sunday as well with thier unique vintage airplane displays and stunt airshow.

A little something for everybody to see at Rhinebeck this weekend. More information on the event is available at the Rhinebeck 2010 website with details about the auction on MidAmerica’s website.

If you do get to the show on Friday, I’ll be the large guy with the beard and mustache and Craig will be the skinny guy with the glasses and sideburns.  That should narrow it down a bit for you. Hope they have fair fries……..
