While we’re pretty sure we positively identified Private Lewis van Alstyne’s car as a one-off G.J.G. racer, we haven’t closed the book on the car yet, and Marianne DeAngelis of the New York Guard sent us a couple additional photos of the car, recently discovered in the Elting Library’s Heidgerd-Haviland collection. Marianne writes:

He (Private van Alstyne) is in the passenger’s seat in the first, (seems he was generous in letting his friends pilot this beautiful vehicle) and in the second photo, he’s sitting all the way to the right, on the running board. I hope these pics can help double-confirm that it’s really and truly a GJG.

No luck yet, however, in turning up the mammoth heads that decorated the Mammoth Garage, where the G.J.G. was built.
