As awesome as the various Big Bad-painted and Pierre Cardin-interiored Javelins and AMXs were, there’s something to be said for one that dispenses with such visual tricks, such as this 1972 AMC AMX, with its 360, Machine wheels and simple black interior. Sure, there’s the bright Trans Am Red paint, the stripe, the vinyl roof and other bits of flash, but what’s a muscle car without at least some form of cop-bait? From the seller’s description:

This is a loaded car, 360 Go-Pack, auto, a/c, rear defogger, tilt wheel and much more including original Machine wheels which were ordered new on this car according to the original owner who I have been in contact with. I am the 4th owner. This is an original Trans Am Red car with under 64,000 orig miles, known history, original sheetmetal, always rust-free, some original paperwork and some nice factory literature as well. I am forced to sell this car due to financial difficulties. It is truly in mint condition inside, outside and under the hood. Exceptional quality repaint some years ago. Tires are NOS Goodyear Polyglas, not repros. Sounds awesome with dual Flowmasters. Quintessential ’70′s design. This body style had an amazing successful racing heritage in the early 1970s with Mark Donohue and George Follmer. And this example is simply a stunning car to behold and drive. It has been pampered all its life.
