Looks like just another old mechanical pencil, right? Maybe to some, but when it’s embossed with the words Nash Sales and Service, it’s more than just a writing implement.

My wife, Sunny, happened upon this piece of automotive history while rummaging through an antique store one leisurely Saturday afternoon. Needless to say, my wallet jumped out of my pocket quicker than grass through a goose. Aside from the Nash reference, also embossed was the dealership’s name – Washington Street Motors – as well as its street address: 225 Washington Street in Claremont, New Hampshire.

The Havekost Nash dealership list confirms its existence, with an initial opening date within the 1948 calendar year. Unfortunately, there’s a bit of a mystery yet to be solved that perhaps some of you from Hemmings Nation can help us – or more appropriately, Havekost – find the answers to. For instance, according to Google’s street view the building still exists as as some sort of local/private garage, but was that because the dealership relocated, closed, or ended up selling another make before vanishing? And who was the original owner of the lost Nash dealership?
